4 ways how Google Waves can help in your home business
Google Wave enables their users to collaborate on the web by changing the content of the same “Wave” in the same time. This means, that while I am writing this post some one else could help me with editing it. I could see his keys being pressed resulting in new letters and words appearing in my own browser. Awesome!
But how this can help me in my home business?
1. Use Google Wave in setting up your official agreements with your customers.
Google Waves first aim is to improve collaboration. Therefore, instead of exchanging copies of the emails with agreements, and waiting on responses you can directly reply without worrying about the versions of the emails etc. This is very helpful. In my career I had several times very big issue in tracing whole conversation history, especially when I had to find some agreements made ages ago. By using Google Waves you can use the Playback option which enables you to go back in changes history of the wave. This is dramatic improvement and very convininet way to review how communication and agreements changed in the time.
2. Several people can edit in the same time the same wave document with the ability to see others keystrokes.
Stop waiting on server response. You don’t have to launch any IM software next to Google Wave. It is document editor and IM software in the same time.
3. By defining your own forms you can create custom waves used for data entry. You don’t have to build your own web application to make it fully functional for you.
For sure all of you had to answer on repeating question asked by your customers or team membres or had to request someone to fill in your database with some data. The issue starts when you just don’t have a time to change currently exisiting application to enable new data entry form. What to do then? Instead of hiring IT guy just create your own form in Google Wave and use it to store data. Later, you can move it into proper place.
4. Use Google Waves robots like your helpers – they can scan the waves and take out from them what is important for you.
When your home business grows and your contact people are several customers each day, it is always good to know or at least to have a feeling that you check either something important is happening. Therefore, when you have robot invited into wave you can point for him what is important to store or to document (by moving to other wave). This can dramatically influence the results of the coversation. You can just point while talking what is a part of the contract and what is not.
